I have had a few clients this year ask me how they can have a friend or family member perform their ceremony. Seeing as we are not in the United States, and it’s not that easy to just become ordained and marry people here, there is another alternative. And a few of my clients are signing up for it.
DO THE LEGALITY OF THE CEREMONY FIRST AND THEN HAVE A SYMBOLIC CEREMONY PERFORMED BY THE PERSON YOU WANT.
There are officiants that will perform the legal portion of the ceremony earlier in the day and allow you to go the rest of the day as you wish. Additionally, you could go to City Hall and get everything done a few days before your actual wedding day, which again allows you to have the wedding you want, by the people you want.
If that’s important to you, then make a priority. The only kickback may come from parents or older guests that believe in traditions and want to see that for you. But don’t forget it’s YOUR day to celebrate, do it the way YOU want.
Thanks,
Mal
