Congratulations! You are engaged! The excitement is overwhelming, and as many of us, you have dreamt of this day since like birth. So now what? Where do you start your planning? (Enter shameless self-promotion- hire a wedding planner, we know a pretty awesome one *cough cough*)
Most of you, have already run out and bought every wedding magazine on the shelves, signed up for every wedding website newsletter and begun at least 1 Pinterest board. But is this really where to start?
Yes and no. Yes you should begin to think about what you want your day to look like and find inspiration to support your idea. In reality, you should begin with the date. What time of the year do you want to get married: spring, fall? It is best to leave the actual date flexible until you do the first and most important thing: BOOK YOUR CEREMONY. It’s really easy to get caught up in all the pretty things that tend to be reflective of your reception; but, without the ceremony, you are not getting married. It would be such a waste to book everything and then find out the ceremony location or officiant you want isn’t available.
So, book your ceremony first and then build your wedding from there. Trust us. Once you have that booked, everything else will work itself in. Bonus if your wedding ceremony and reception are at the same location.
